| Giclee (pronounced "zhee-clay") is a recognized and collectible category of fine art. In short it is a French term roughly meaning "spray of ink", which describes the digital printing process. One tremendous advantage to giclee printing is that artwork can be reproduced to almost any size on various media, giving the artist the ability to customize prints for clients. The technology provides incredible detail and brilliant color. The resolution (DPI or dots per inch) is higher than most traditional lithography, which can result in crisp contrast with rich, intense color. No fine art printmaking method has ever caused so much excitement as the Giclee. Each giclee print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate provides collectors with an assurance that their purchase is genuine, with pertinent information such as: artist, title, image size, print number, run size, printer, inks, media, and purchaser. The CAM also indicates location(s) of unique anomalies on the Giclee prints. Each piece is individually produced by the artist so each one is truly unique. Collectors are encouraged to use contact information, located on the Certificate of Authenticity or here in the gallery, to inform the artists of a sale or purchase out side of the gallery. This not only helps a collector confirm a piece is genuine, it allows an artist to track each numbered piece and its current market value.
